Patient reports numbness after 32 removal.
Guys Ive been having trouble sleeping. Pt has had lower jaw numbness and it has been 3 weeks since the ext. Younger person. Did all 4 and don't remember specifics but I do remember it being a tough one. How do I handle this?
This happens. You have to try and persuade the patient to come back in, so you can do tests and chart where the numbness is. There is a big difference between just the tongue being numb (lingual nerve) and the complete mandibular nerve (no felling at all in the jaw).
What he said above. The longer he goes with numbness the more you know you either severed the neoprene only damaged it. Past 3 weeks and you have a problem. I would bring the patient in and document everything. Find the consent form you hopefully had him sign and read it well because that is a big thing in your favor. It is a known complication like a broken file or something to that nature. Once you document everything send to OS and try and keep in good contact and friendly terms with everybody
